About Me

Hello!

I'm Kelly Nickelson, a business intelligence engineer driven by a passion for harnessing data to fuel organizational success. I graduated from Kalamazoo College in June 2021 with a degree in Biology and concentrations in Environmental Studies and Community & Global Health. K College provided me with a rigorous and interdisciplinary education, extending my knowledge beyond the traditional classroom through experiences like studying abroad in Thailand and interning at the Chaing Mai Breathe Council.

Post-graduation, I joined Michigan State University's entomology lab as a research assistant, delving deeper into my passion for research, particularly in working with data. This led me to Tempus AI, a company dedicated to improving cancer patient outcomes through AI.

Starting as a Commercial Operations Data Analyst, I gained a unique perspective distinct from my academic background. My contributions in this role significantly impacted strategic decision-making and solidified my enthusiasm for the transformative power of data. Keen on expanding my horizons, I transitioned to the Business Intelligence team as an Engineer, combining my biology background with technical skills to build and maintain data models for advanced laboratory analytical reporting.

Working in the biotech startup environment continues to further honed my skills in thriving within fast-moving and dynamic settings. My mindset is geared towards innovation, nimbleness, and a proactive approach to driving positive change.

Outside of work, I love rock climbing, reading, and volleyball. Despite the challenges, I enjoy keeping up with Chicago & Detroit sports and exploring new restaurants in the city - I am always open to new recommendations.

Feel free to explore my recent projects, and thank you for your time.

Kelly
